Planning underway for Big Give on Nov. 7

With planning well underway for the fourth annual Big Give McCook on Nov. 7, organizers are look- ing for any non-profit organizations which would like to join the one-day philanthropy event. Last year, 23 organizations were part of Big Give Mc- Cook, up from 21 the year before.

To be part of Big Give McCook, organi- zations are asked to fill out an application on the website, www. biggive-mccook.org under “Sign Up Now.” Participants will also be asked to attend one planning meeting as well as offer support on the day of Big Give McCook.To be

eligible for Big Give McCook, organiza- tions must have a 501(c)3 exempt sta- tus in good standing with the IRS as well as have a physical presence and provide services for Southwest Nebraska. Private foundations and po- litical or governmen- tal organizations are excluded from the event. Religious or- ganizations are also excluded except those providing community programs. All appli- cations are ultimately approved by the Mc- Cook Community Chest Board, which oversees Big Give McCook. Applications from non-profit organizations will be accepted through Thursday, August 1.

Now in its’ fourth year, Big Give McCook is one day devoted to philanthropy, where every donation - large or small - makes a difference. From mid- night to midnight on Nov. 7, participating non-profits will be eligible for dona- tions, whether they are given online or

in person at “giving stations” around McCook.

People can choose both how much theywould like to give along with where the money should

go. There will also be matching funds, provided by local businesses support- ing the event, making those donations go even fur-ther.

The Community Chest provides fi- nancial resources to a dozen agencies in McCook, which serve the basic needs of the community. Commu- nity Chest is a sub-ac- count of the McCook Community Founda- tion Fund, which is an affiliated fund of the Nebraska Community Foundation.
